5 Franklin Street

We served as the Executive Architect for Five Franklin Place A/K/A 371 Broadway, a high-design residential complex situated, just east of the Tribeca Landmark District. This location provides the opportunity for some very unique and breathtaking Western and Northern views from the Hudson River sweeping north toward midtown. In keeping with the Tribeca East environs, the residential lobby and drop off for the below grade parking are strategically situated on Franklin Place, a privet street. This high end condominium will contain 129,000 GSF in a 19 Story stone and glass building. With 55 condominium units and amenities such as a state of the art fitness center, automated parking and roof top pool. The residential portion of this development offers a variety of homes, and most unique, will be the loft styled duplexes with 18’ ceilings in the living rooms, oversized kitchen and dining areas with loft styled bedrooms.

As Principal-In-Charge, Richard J. DeMarco, AIA worked closely with the project’s designer, UNStudio, to enhance the appeal and feasibility of the building’s interiors. The building’s signature exterior feature is a series of interlocked and contorted black metal bands. The bands surround the tower’s all-glass curtain wall and are mirrored in the curved planes of the interior space. Most of the building’s residences have bands that peel from the façade to serve as balconies. Further up, the bands transform into terraces for the penthouse residences.
